Now that Trump is the president-elect, many companies are rolling back on their DEI agenda that Trump promised to terminate on his first day. Many companies aren’t waiting till January and have already started stopping DEI programs. The biggest so far is Walmart which just announced that it’s stopping the majority of their DEI programs. Other notable companies include Lowe’s, John Deere, Ford, Harley Davidson, Catepillar, Tractor Supply, and a few others. Walmart thus far is the biggest to make this change.
For Walmart, this means limiting certain items advertised to certain groups like LBGT and kids. They said they won’t advertise anything trans to kids anymore and will limit what they advertise to the lgbt community during Pride Month. Let’s see how well they keep their promise.
DEI stands for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. It was started after the death of George Floyd back in 2020. Many companies already had some type of diversity training but this new DEI program meant companies had to hire based on color of skin and other discriminatory beliefs. This was backed by the Biden-Harris administration. Companies are finally happy that they can hire based on skills rather than race or gender.
