In a clip shared on Elon Musk’s Twitter page, he shares a clip of Sunny Hostin, from The View, finding out that her family was originally from Spain and once owned slaves. The clip is from March 2024 where she was on a PBS show called “Find Your Roots”. Sunny shares her thoughts in the clip that she never knew that the other half of her ethnicity was slave owners. Her other half is Puerto Rican.
Elon captained the clip by saying that were all descendants of slaves and how it was an extremely common practice since the beginning of time that people had and traded slaves. Its not the best thing about humanity but we’ve come along way.
All Sunny did was find out that her family tree was part of the problem and reiterate Elon’s point that owning slaves was common a long, long time ago. But instead of teaching the world how bad owning slaves is, and was, and that we should learn from past mistakes, she preaches that the world is still racist towards people of color and how she wants people of color to feel oppressed even though they haven’t been or even know the realism of what slavery once was.
