Even though San Francisco has lost revenue from multiple businesses that have left the city, they somehow can afford a fat positivity expert. They hired Virgie Tovar who has published multiple books on “Weight Stigma and Weight Neutrality.” Tovar’s website lists her as a ”plus-size Latina author, lecturer, and leading expert on weight-based discrimination and body positivity with over a decade of experience.” The San Francisco Department of Public Health has not said what her official duty will be but has said she will be a consultant of some sort.
