Its no surprise that CNN isn’t doing to well. They used to be a trusted name in news, but after the past decade and the bias in their news programs, people don’t want to watch lame duck news from them anymore. Plus there’s plenty of other places to get headlines instead of watching news panelist give their personal opinions.
Rumors are already circulating that they might fire some popular anchors. Chris Wallace was smart and already jumped ship and left before he could get laid off, probably for pension or other reasons. It seems things are looking even worse for the network.
Analysts have done an estimate and found that in 2020, CNN made over a billions dollars. And by the end of 2024, they would be around $750 million. That might still seem good, but that’s a huge drop in revenue. Now rumors are circulating that their parent company, Warner Bros Discovery, might put them up in the auction block. Could Elon Musk buy them like he did Twitter and make it great again?
But realistically that might not happen. Warner Bros Discovery is a conglomerate and makes a gazillion dollars a year from other networks and companies. They own such channels like TBS, TNT, HBO and a whole list of movie studios. So the likely hood of them selling CNN is slim, but they might do a rebrand to compete with FOX.
