For the first time in history, it was legal to place bets on the presidential election. There were two main sites that did the betting. Polymarket, which isn’t intended for U.S. users and more global specific, saw $1.5 billion wagered on Donald Trump and $1 billion on Kamala Harris.
The U.S. version called Kalshi, has stated that all combined bets equaled to a little over $500 million. This was less than Polymarket because Kalshi was only able to get a federal judge clearance last minute in October or else they would have been even more bets.
But overall, a little over $5 billion has been bet with Polymarket and Kalshi combined. Both platforms had more bets on Trump than Harris though.
