NFL team Washington Commanders might go back to being called the Redskins

During the COVID-19 pandemic, everyone on the far left were losing their minds from changing food names such as Uncle Ben’s Rice to just Ben’s Rice or Aunt Jemima to The Pearl Milling Company because in their eyes, it sounded racist. Then protesting and vandalizing in different cities because of a perceived notion of systematic racism in their life and tearing down historic statues because they didn’t know the historical significance of what those statues meant. Sports wasn’t off limits either. Take the NFL’s Washington Commanders team for example.

They used to be called the Washington Redskins for decades until the progressive left felt it was racist to have an Indian chief as the logo. A poll was even conducted that found 90% of Native Americans didn’t find the logo and name offensive. But for some reason, the radical left felt everything needed to be changed. There were petitions and boycotts of certain brands affiliated with the team and with the death of George Floyd, the owners caved in and removed the name and logo. The team didn’t have a name for about a year until 2022, when they became the Washington Commanders.

It looks like now that Trump is getting back in office and his promise to remove any DEI initiatives and reverse any woke agenda policies, the Commanders might go back to being called the Redskins. Montana Senator Steve Daines has called for the restoration of the logo to come back. Sen. Daines created a bill that would see D.C. take control of RFK stadium and allow the Commanders to play in D.C. but they would also need to bring back its logo as well as its trademarked name.

Senator Daines argues that removing the name and logo from the team, that it’s also disrespecting the Indian chief who was featured as the logo mascot. Daines argues that the logo depicts the pride, strength, courage, and honor of the Indian people and by removing it, they are also removing cherished Native American history. The family of the Indian chief depicted in the old Redskins logo has already spoken out that they want the Redskins name and logo to be reinstated.
